A pre-send review is the final check of a specific approved email, not a substitute for account governance or strategy. For a cannabis team working with an agency, the review should make clear which version is being checked, what evidence is required and who can authorize release.
Keep this checklist short enough to use consistently. If an unresolved issue changes the purpose, audience or approved content, return the work to the appropriate reviewer instead of treating the change as routine polishing.
1. Match the asset to the approved brief
Confirm that the copy, images and intended communication still match the assignment. Check names, dates, locations and other factual details against their approved sources. Remove placeholder text and flag claims without an identified source or required review.
Check the sender identity, subject line and preview text as part of the same asset. They should describe the approved communication rather than introduce a new promise that was never reviewed.
2. Review destinations and presentation
Open each link and confirm that it leads to the intended destination. Check whether linked information is still consistent with the email. Record any destination that cannot be verified so the approver can decide what happens next.
Review the agreed device views and check the visibility of important information. Use mobile email review considerations for a deeper discussion of presentation checks. Do not label the work universally optimized based on one preview.
3. Verify the selected account settings
Compare the selected audience, exclusions and scheduling details with the approved instructions. Record the time zone where timing matters. Confirm that the person checking these settings understands the account’s definitions rather than relying only on a familiar label.
Uncertainty about permissions or audience records is a reason to pause the affected work for review, not a reason to improvise a different audience.
4. Capture the release decision
Identify the final version and record the approver’s decision. If changes occur after sign-off, repeat the affected checks and obtain the appropriate approval. Preserve the record with the brief so a later question can be investigated accurately.
Finally, confirm who will inspect the available reporting and handle any correction. The email performance measurement guide provides reporting context beyond this production checklist.
Hiigher’s managed email and creative services provide a framework for dividing these responsibilities. The scope should identify who performs QA and which decisions remain with the business.
