Setting Email Goals Your Cannabis Marketing Team Can Support

Three adult colleagues planning together beside a potted cannabis plant.

A realistic email goal reflects the work a business can support from brief to review. For cannabis teams using managed AIQ, email or SMS services, production volume is only one part of that workload. Internal approvals, source material, account maintenance and reporting all need capacity.

Start with the operating constraint rather than a target borrowed from another company. If the team cannot approve current work on time, a higher volume target may be poorly matched to the problem.

Count the complete workload

Map the steps in a typical assignment and name the people involved. Include the time required to gather information, resolve questions and review revisions. Separate recurring production from one-time account cleanup so the plan does not assume both fit into the same unchanged capacity.

Ask which work only an internal owner can do. An agency can support production and management within scope, but it cannot supply business decisions that the client has not made.

Choose goals at the right level

Use operational goals for work the team directly controls: completing an account inventory, establishing one approval record or delivering agreed reports with definitions. Keep financial expectations separate and label the assumptions behind them.

For each goal, write the intended outcome, responsible owner, evidence of completion and dependencies. A goal such as clearer reporting needs a defined deliverable before anyone can judge whether it was achieved.

Make trade-offs visible

When new work enters the plan, decide what moves, what needs additional scope and what can wait. Do not hide trade-offs by assuming review time will shrink. Maintain a short deferred-work list so important tasks are not lost merely because they cannot be done immediately.

Build room for factual corrections and account questions. The amount of reserve should reflect the team’s experience and current workload, not a universal percentage presented as a rule.

Review capacity alongside results

  • Which inputs or approvals delayed the work?
  • Was the agreed scope completed?
  • Did reporting answer the intended questions?
  • What should be reduced, clarified or reassigned next period?

This review gives the team a reason to adjust the plan without equating every schedule change with failure.
