A Dispensary Audience Segmentation Review Checklist

An audience name is not a quality check. Before using a dispensary email segment, the reviewer should be able to explain who belongs in it, why the communication is relevant and what keeps an ineligible record out. This checklist focuses on a specific audience before use, rather than ongoing retention-program maintenance.

1. State the purpose in ordinary language

Write one sentence describing the communication and the audience’s reason to receive it. Avoid labels that imply intent the underlying information does not establish. If the purpose is unclear, stop and revise the brief before discussing audience size or creative variations.

Record whether the audience is for a single campaign or a recurring use. A one-time approval should not quietly turn into permission to reuse the same group for unrelated communications.

2. Trace every rule to its source

List the fields and conditions used, including the relevant time window and treatment of missing information. Confirm what each field means in this account. Similar labels across systems should not be treated as interchangeable without review.

Check how current the source is and whether known issues affect the result. Keep the review focused on necessary information; do not add sensitive personal details or inferred health interests to make the audience more granular.

3. Review exclusions before approving the count

Check current communication choices, unresolved permission questions and other documented exclusions. Compare the proposed audience with related scheduled activity so the reviewer can see overlaps. Confirm the intended account behavior through testing rather than assuming a saved segment automatically enforces every boundary.

4. Test positive and negative examples

  • A record that clearly meets the documented conditions.
  • A record outside the intended source or time window.
  • A record missing a field required by the rule.
  • A record with a changed communication preference.
  • A record that could appear in more than one active journey.

Use approved test records where possible and document the expected result before checking the actual result. Investigate mismatches instead of changing the explanation after the fact. Note whether the test establishes account behavior or merely confirms a static export.

5. Capture approval and evaluation boundaries

Save the definition, relevant audience count, reviewer and approval date with the campaign brief. Specify which changes require renewed review. After the campaign, evaluate the stated purpose and any operational issues without treating every observed action as proof of campaign impact.

If the segment will be reused, assign an owner and review date. The retention audience maintenance guide covers that continuing responsibility. Hiigher’s managed AIQ marketing services offer a starting point for discussing audience review and account cleanup within a defined engagement.
