Evaluating Cannabis Email Platforms: Eligibility, Scope and Evidence

Flowering cannabis plant surrounded by green foliage.

A platform shortlist should be a starting point for investigation, not a blanket endorsement. Before comparing automation screens or subscription prices, establish whether the provider accepts the actual business, intended content, jurisdiction and channel.

This article replaces a ranked 2026 tools list with an evidence-based procurement framework. It does not certify the current eligibility or capabilities of any provider.

Make eligibility the first decision gate

Ask the provider for its current applicable policies and written clarification of the proposed use. Describe the business accurately. Record the policy link, review date, account assumptions and any conditions attached to the answer.

Review email and SMS separately. Do not assume that approval for one channel, a different business or a B2B label covers the intended use. Indirect wording should not be treated as a way to make an ineligible activity acceptable.

Compare requirements with demonstrated capabilities

  • List the workflow the team actually needs to manage.
  • Ask for a demonstration using representative, non-sensitive test data.
  • Confirm the plan level and any add-ons required.
  • Identify which steps are native, manual or dependent on another vendor.
  • Record what was demonstrated and what remains a sales assertion.

Include approval roles, suppression handling, reporting exports and error visibility in the evaluation. A feature label is not enough to establish that it fits the business’s operating process.

Test the integration assumptions

Ask which source systems and versions are supported in the proposed account. Confirm the fields transferred, update behavior, responsibility for failures and known limitations. Use the behavioral data quality review to structure the checks.

Do not upload a live customer list simply to evaluate a demonstration. Agree the authorized test method and data handling before any trial or migration.

Compare the whole operating cost

Separate the platform subscription from messaging usage, implementation, integrations, creative production and ongoing management. Request the relevant limits, overage terms, contract conditions and support arrangements. Keep uncertain costs visible rather than assigning an unsupported estimate.

Ask who owns the account, who handles technical issues and what documentation is available if the relationship ends. Confirm export and transition requirements before committing to a change.

Scope a transition independently

If a replacement is justified, create a separate migration plan covering authorized access, source records, permissions, testing, approvals and rollback decisions. An existing campaign-management agreement should not be assumed to include that project.

Hiigher’s managed AlpineIQ support works with existing accounts and the capabilities available in their plans. Platform subscriptions and third-party costs are separate from service scope; migration should be separately scoped and quoted. For a focused comparison framework, see Alpine IQ and Klaviyo evaluation.

Bring the requirements and unresolved evidence to an account review. The useful outcome is a documented fit decision, not a universal best-platform ranking.
